Job Title: Technical Sales / Pre-Sales Consultant

Salary: £60k to 75k
Location: Northamptonshire

My long term IT Managed Services client is looking for a Technical Sales / Pre-Sales Consultant who has expertise in supporting the sale of IT Managed Services, including Cloud Tech, Cyber and Connectivity.

About the Role

If you are a sales focused, pre-sales, tech sales engineer whose able to work in our clients Northamptonshire offices twice a week, then I'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Conducted technical presales activities (product demos, POC, RFP/RFI responses) to validate managed services offerings and accelerate deal closure.
  • Developed customized managed services proposals including SLA design, SOW creation, and TCO/ROI modelling to align technical scope with commercial objectives.
  • Collaborated with account executives, delivery teams, and engineering to design scalable NOC/SOC, cloud migration, backup/DR, and endpoint management solutions integrating AWS/Azure/GCP, VMware/Hyper‑V, and storage.
  • Performed technical discovery, network and security assessments (firewalls, VPN, IAM, vulnerability scans) to define scope, risk mitigation, and onboarding requirements.
  • Configured and demonstrated platforms and tools (PSA/RMM such as ConnectWise/Datto, SIEMs like Splunk/QRadar, Microsoft 365, Cisco/Juniper) and delivered hands‑on POCs for stakeholder sign‑off.
  • Prepared implementation runbooks, migration plans, and operational handovers to ensure predictable SLA delivery and smooth service transitions.
  • Supported contract negotiations, renewals, and upsell/cross‑sell opportunities with technical justification, pricing models, and vendor licensing management to protect margin and ARR.
  • Tracked and reported sales engineering metrics (pipeline status, churn, MTTD/MTTR, SLA attainment) using CRM tools (Salesforce) to inform sales strategy and forecasting.
  • Automated deployments and integrations using scripting (PowerShell, Python), APIs, and IaC tooling to reduce onboarding time and operational costs.
