Overall Purpose of the Job
The Subsea Product Group is a global support group responsible for all of Expro’s subsea activities focusing on business development/sales, service quality and product development. Based in Aberdeen, the primary function of the Technical Sales Engineer will be to work closely within the Subsea Well Access bid / tendering support team.
The candidate will work closely with Group Engineering, Operations, Region teams and our client base to ensure technical solutions and bespoke engineering concepts are provided when necessary to capture business growth opportunities.
Key Activities And Accountabilities
- Responsible for developing the most appropriate technical solution and working with commercial team to ensure all costs are captured, risks accounted for and a suitable commercial solution is developed to secure profitable work
- Responsible for the compilation of Technical documentation and entire tender/proposal documentation to ensure tender delivery is performed to the highest standards
- Acting as the “bid lead”, the technical sales engineer will be responsible for coordination of the entire technical bid process from pre-ITT client engagement, through to handover to operations and projects after securing work
- To coordinate and contribute towards tender strategies and action plans with Regional and SSWA group
- Responsible for all technical clarifications and exceptions, identifying gaps where necessary to client requirements and Expro’s specifications
- To communicate to client(s) Expro’s subsea well access solutions or bespoke concepts to ensure Expro remains or is identified as their preferred supplier of landing string solutions
- To ensure Technical front end risks are understood, effectively managed and communicated prior to contract award
- Ensuring all stakeholders are meeting deadlines and ensure submission are compiled on time whilst ensuring all reviews and approvals are in place ahead of submission
- Responsible for the compilation of tender technical drawings (scope of supply etc.) and / or documents for internal review when necessary to ensure ITT or client compliance
- Ability to understand, review and communicate technical documentation / drawings (valve assemblies, schematics, BOP spaceouts, SIT procedures etc.)
- To work closely with regional teams and to ensure Technical aspect of the tender delivery is performed to the highest standards
- Request engineering CTRs for bespoke projects and ensure the costs are reflective of the scope of supply and project parameters
- Ability to write pricing notes that reflect Expro’ commercial position, strategy and risk profile
- Attend subsea industry events when needed to provide subsea product support
- To contribute in the creation and up keep of subsea technical tender content libraries and marketing material
- Provide feedback and information for business planning, market intelligence, reporting including managing opportunities within Salesforce data base and ensure monthly reports are actioned
- Provide technical feedback to support justification for new Subsea related product/service developments
- To contribute to the achievement of SSWA budget through the development and understanding of our client technology and business needs

Job Knowledge And Qualifications

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Preference for experience with subsea well access systems – either operationally or engineering / onshore planning
- Good decision making and technical background
- Preferred familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 13628-7 and API 17G
- Proven experience facing clients and negotiating
- Hold a Professional Qualification preferably in a Technical area
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Teams
- Preferred ability to use AutoCAD
