Technical Sales Engineer - South & North UK
As a market leader in precision cutting tools, Exactaform is on a mission to redefine the future of precision engineering and we’re looking for 2 Technical Sales Engineers based in the South and North of the UK, to be part of that journey.
The Technical Sales Engineer serves as the primary interface between Exactaform and our customers, combining technical expertise with commercial acumen to develop and implement cutting tool solutions that deliver measurable value.
The role is responsible for developing customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, analysing machining processes, recommending tooling solutions, managing projects through to completion, and providing ongoing technical support to maximise customer success and business growth.
Objectives of this Role
Customer Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to customer engineering, production, and procurement teams.
- Deliver high levels of customer satisfaction through responsiveness and support.
Technical Sales & Business Development
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within assigned territories.
- Manage a robust sales pipeline through CRM systems.
- Prepare and present quotations, proposals, and return-on-investment analyses.
- Negotiate commercial agreements in line with company objectives.
Technical Consultation & Solution Development
- Analyse customer manufacturing processes and machining challenges.
- Recommend appropriate PCD and carbide tooling solutions.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to develop bespoke tooling solutions.
Applications Engineering & Technical Support
- Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support.
- Investigate tooling and machining issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor tool performance and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Project Management & Coordination
- Manage customer projects from initial enquiry through implementation and aftercare.
- Coordinate activities between customers, engineering, production, and quality teams.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification.

Market Development & Product Support
- Monitor industry trends, customer requirements, and competitor activity.
- Identify opportunities for market growth and product development.
- Provide customer insights to support marketing and engineering initiatives.
CRM Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate customer records and opportunity data.
- Prepare sales forecasts and activity reports.
- Ensure all customer interactions and project updates are documented appropriately.

Internal: Sales, Marketing, Operations, Leadership Team
External: Customers, Industry Bodies, Suppliers, Partners
Required Skills & Experience
Essential:
- HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in technical sales, applications engineering, manufacturing engineering, or tooling environments.
- Strong understanding of cutting tool technologies, including PCD and carbide tooling.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience within CNC machining and precision manufacturing environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence decision-makers effectively.
- Commercial awareness with strong problem-solving capability.
- Full Clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required for client meetings.
Desirable:
- Experience within aerospace, automotive, motorsport, medical, or advanced manufacturing sectors.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software.
- Experience conducting machining process optimisation projects.
- Familiarity with CRM systems such as HubSpot and sales forecasting tools.
