Sales Manager – Packaging Machinery
Location: Home Based – Central & Southern UK
Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 + Bonus (OTE £75,000)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Travel: UK field-based with occasional European travel
The Opportunity
Staffbase are delighted to be supporting a leading OEM specialising in packaging machinery as they continue to grow their UK operation. We are looking for an experienced Sales Manager to join the business on a home-based basis, with responsibility for developing new business and driving machinery sales across Central and Southern UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious sales professional with a background in packaging machinery, automated machinery or technical sales, particularly within the food and FMCG manufacturing sectors.
The Role
Reporting to the Sales Director, you will be responsible for delivering effective sales and business development activity to increase machinery sales and develop long-term customer relationships.

- Identifying and developing new business opportunities across the UK
- Managing and following up sales enquiries
- Prospecting, making sales calls and arranging customer visits
- Understanding customer requirements and identifying suitable machinery solutions
- Working closely with customers and internal technical/engineering teams to specify appropriate equipment
- Building strong, long-term relationships with new and existing customers
- Attending product demonstrations, trade exhibitions and industry events
- Supporting marketing and business development activities as required
- Maintaining accurate sales activity and pipeline reports for the Sales Director and wider management team
About You
We are looking for an experienced B2B sales professional with a proven track record of selling packaging machinery and/or automated machinery.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in machinery, packaging machinery or technical sales
- Experience selling into the food manufacturing and/or FMCG sectors
- A strong understanding of packaging machinery and automated production equipment
- Sufficient technical or engineering knowledge to confidently engage with customers and technical teams
- A proven track record in new business development and consultative sales
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills
- A proactive, commercially focused approach with the drive to achieve sales targets
- The confidence and professionalism to work independently in a home-based field sales environment
