Build a new branch. Grow a customer base. Make it your own.
Thorite is opening a brand-new branch in Skelmersdale, and we're looking for a commercially driven Sales Manager to help build it from the ground up.
This is a hands-on sales opportunity where you'll be responsible for winning new business, developing customer relationships and growing the local territory, while helping shape the branch as it develops.
We're particularly interested in people with experience in technical or industrial B2B sales, ideally within pneumatics, hydraulics, fluid power, compressed air, industrial automation, engineering components or a related sector.
You don't need to have managed a branch before. If you're an experienced Area Sales Manager, Technical Sales Manager, Business Development Manager, Territory Sales Manager, Account Manager or Technical Sales professional looking for more responsibility, we'd like to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
- Winning new business and new customer accounts across the local territory.
- Developing and growing existing customer relationships.
- Visiting customers to understand their requirements and identify new opportunities.
- Preparing quotations and following opportunities through to order.
- Increasing sales, revenue, margin and profitability.
- Providing technical product advice and recommending solutions.
- Developing the local sales strategy and customer base.
- Managing supplier relationships and stock as the branch develops.
- Supporting the day-to-day commercial operation of the branch.
- Helping recruit and lead additional sales colleagues as the business grows.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
