Technical Sales Manager
The Technical Sales Manager role is key to WJ Sunstone’s ability to successfully develop new business and retain and grow client relationships into mutually beneficial strategic partnerships, by consistently delivering exceptional and unique customer value.
Primarily responsible for following up sales enquiries and managing the relationship with prospective and existing clients, co-ordinating with technical, project/service delivery, finance/commercial and senior management teams in both WJ Group and the prospect/client organisation. Managing the Bid process, including the preparation and presentation of Proposals and Quotations, through site survey, requirements gathering, requirements clarification, solution design and the negotiation of commercial terms, through to successful close.
This role is also responsible for maintaining comprehensive, accurate and up to date sales pipeline information and forecasting sales revenue with a good level of accuracy in terms of the value and timing.
Business Development & Sales Account Management
- Use your in-depth industry experience and relationship building skills to effectively engage potential and existing clients, using empathy, active listening, initiative and technical know-how to build solid connections and deliver value.
- Identify mutual business opportunities and transfer relevant knowledge on WJ Sunstone technical products, solutions and services, in order to generate sales leads, qualify opportunities, present solutions, negotiate, close and foster the strong client relationships needed to meet or exceed sales goals and prospect/client expectation.
- Use your strong organisational and team-building skills to co-ordinate, schedule and manage the required stakeholder input across WJ Group and the prospect/client organisation, to ensure the required sales/qualification/proposal/decision-making process is accurate and well defined, and that key deliverables and milestones of the sales process are achieved to a high level of quality, professionalism and in a timely manner.
- Develop, document and maintain Sales Prospect / Opportunity / Account / Territory Strategy and Plans, as required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date lead, opportunity, prospect, customer and market information, sharing relevant information and collaborating with colleagues.
- Preparing and presenting detailed sales reports and forecasts as required by the senior management team.

Person Specification
The Technical Sales Manager should be well presented, personable, articulate, with excellent verbal, written and MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). They should have relevant sales experience, preferably in the rental sector.

They must be able to demonstrate a minimum of 5 years’ experience and success in customer facing roles, developing strong customer relationships and generating business, this can be in sales, project management or service delivery roles.
Ideally their career will have been in Information Communications Technology (ICT) Manufacturing, Systems Integration or Managed Service Provision, working with clients in high hazard / high risk industries where health and safety, quality, functionality and performance are paramount.
A strategic thinker with excellent organisational, problem-solving and relationship building skills, who prioritises the building and maintenance of trust with clients and colleagues at all times.
Qualifications
- Relevant Sales career experience, preferably in the rental market
- MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Full Clean UK Driving Licence
Requirements
- Required to regularly travel UK Wide and occasionally internationally
- Required to regularly work / stay away from home
- Required to attend training, certification and or security clearance to enable attendance at some customer locations e.g.: Rail, Defence, Oil & Gas, Construction
- Required to wear/use supplied Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for specific customer locations e.g.: Rail, Highways, Construction
