Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £45,000 to £75,000, performance bonus, and stock option.
The Opportunity
Smart4Sciences are recruiting for a Technical Sales Manager on behalf of a rapidly growing speciality ingredients and chemical distribution business.
This is a unique opportunity for a commercially driven individual with experience in nutraceuticals, food ingredients, supplements or speciality ingredients to take ownership of an exciting growth area within the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business development, developing strategic customer relationships and expanding the company's presence across the UK and European nutraceutical and ingredient markets.
This role combines technical expertise, commercial leadership and entrepreneurial thinking. Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a pivotal role in growing a developing business unit whilst maintaining a hands-on approach to sales and customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive business development and revenue growth across nutraceutical, food ingredient and speciality ingredient markets.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities across the UK and EMEA regions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors and supply partners.
- Manage the full sales process from lead generation through to commercial negotiation and account management.
- Conduct market analysis to identify growth opportunities, emerging trends and competitive developments.
- Develop and deliver technical and commercial presentations to prospective and existing customers.
- Work closely with technical, formulation and product teams to support customer projects and application development.
- Support the development and future growth of the commercial team through mentoring and leadership.
- Manage and grow key accounts whilst ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Monitor sales performance, pipeline activity and business forecasts.
- Represent the business at industry events, exhibitions and conferences.
- Contribute to commercial strategy, budgeting and profitability objectives.
- Travel throughout the UK and Europe to support customers, suppliers and business development activities.

Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years' experience within the nutraceutical, food ingredient, supplement or speciality ingredient sectors.
- Proven experience in technical B2B sales within chemicals, ingredients or related industries.
- Strong understanding of ingredient applications, raw materials and formulation-led customer requirements.
- Degree qualified in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- Excellent business development skills with a demonstrated ability to win and grow accounts.
- Strong commercial awareness and market analysis capability.
- Experience preparing and delivering technical and commercial presentations.
- Ability to develop relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong negotiation, communication and influencing skills.
- Experience using CRM and ERP systems.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently within a remote environment.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the UK and EMEA.

Desirable Experience
- Experience managing, mentoring or developing sales teams.
- Experience within speciality chemicals, food additives, antioxidants, nutraceutical ingredients or pharmaceutical ingredients.
- Additional management training, MBA or leadership qualifications.
- MSc or PhD in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
