Sales Engineer

Yorkshire - Home Based

Role Objective

This position is suited to a technically minded candidate who will play a key role in helping the organisation achieve its commercial targets. The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to internal processes, continuous improvement, and high-quality service delivery. Objectives are set at management level and cascaded through annual appraisals and regular departmental communication. This role focusses on maximising order intake, profitability, and growth. You will report to the Regional Sales Manager, and this is a home based role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote, sell, and secure orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-driven approach.
  • Provide design solutions that meet customer requirements and comply with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Work to ensure products are specified in tender documents.
  • Achieve enquiry, quotation, and order volume targets at agreed gross margins.
  • Keep CRM records (Salesforce) up to date to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
  • Build relationships with key decision-makers within each account.
  • Develop new business relationships and identify prospective customers.
  • Produce clear, accurate written proposals and quotations in line with house style.
  • Develop personal skills such as time management and presentation capability.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including technical, estimating, and marketing.
  • Act in accordance with legal responsibilities and the company's QHSE policies.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in a relevant construction-related role (e.g., customer service, sales, project management, QS).
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a related position or industry.

Desirable

  • Proven experience in a sales environment securing new business.
  • Track record of territory development and order growth.

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and CAD.
  • Confident negotiator.

Qualifications

  • Degree-level education (or equivalent).
  • GCSE Maths & English.
