Technical Sales Representative
Tamworth | £40,000 + £5,000 Bonus | Permanent | Full-Time
365 People are recruiting for a Technical Sales Representative to join an established and growing specialist engineering manufacturer based in Tamworth.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven individual with a technical or engineering background who wants to develop their career within international technical sales. The position combines technical sales, account development, distributor management, and new business development, working with customers and distribution partners across international markets.
You'll be joining a successful engineering business with ambitious growth plans and a highly technical product range supplied into industries including automotive, aerospace, coatings, electronics, and materials testing. Previous experience within this specific product sector is not essential. Full product training can be provided to the right person. What is important is the ability to understand technical products, build strong commercial relationships, and confidently develop sales opportunities.
The Role
You'll be responsible for supporting and developing an established international network of distributors and agents while identifying opportunities to grow sales within existing and new markets. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing sales across international markets
- Managing and developing relationships with overseas distributors and agents
- Identifying new business and market opportunities
- Working with distribution partners to achieve sales growth objectives
- Responding to technical and commercial enquiries
- Providing customers and distributors with technical product advice
- Understanding customer requirements and recommending appropriate solutions
- Managing opportunities from initial enquiry through to order
- Following up sales enquiries and converting opportunities into orders
- Managing the sales pipeline and maintaining accurate CRM records
- Producing sales forecasts and reports
- Visiting customers and distribution partners
- Delivering product demonstrations, technical presentations, and training
- Attending international trade fairs and industry events
- Monitoring competitor activity and market trends
- Negotiating sales prices and discounts
- Working closely with engineering, production, marketing, and aftersales teams
- Supporting marketing campaigns and product promotion

International Travel
Although UK based, international travel is an important part of the position. You'll visit customers, distributors, and agents across overseas markets as well as attending international exhibitions and industry events. You must therefore be comfortable traveling internationally as required.
About You
We're looking for someone who can combine technical understanding with commercial ability. Ideally, you'll have:
- An engineering qualification at HND level, degree level, or equivalent technical experience
- Experience within technical sales, engineering sales, or a technical customer-facing environment
- The ability to understand and confidently discuss technical products
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Commercial awareness and good negotiation skills
- Confidence building relationships with customers and distributors
- The ability to manage opportunities through the full sales cycle
- Strong organisation and CRM skills
- A proactive and self-motivated approach
- The ability to work independently and use your own initiative
- Willingness to travel internationally
