This position reports to:

Technical Support Manager


Job Summary

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the Sales organisation and its customers in determining the most technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions. Each day, you will serve as a key technical resource in the assigned area. You will also showcase your expertise by preparing technical descriptions for the applied products and technology.

This role is contributing to the Installation Products Division in the UK Electrification Business Area, specifically around earthing and lightning, cable protection systems, wire and cable management and connectivity solutions.

Main stakeholders you will engage with will be ABB Electrification's customers and supporting our local external sales teams.

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.

  • Work model: Hybrid from our Coventry office (min 2 days in the office)
  • Offering technical advice and providing comment on enquiry specifications for customers/channels/Sales Engineers regarding ABB’s products/systems/applications.
  • Providing technical support during technical meetings, product presentations, and negotiations.
  • Performing analytics and diagnostic studies to determine the most suitable technical solution to meet the customer needs; and proposing the most suitable technical solutions for complex enquiries.
  • Delivering product and solution related training; and supporting the managers in preparing and validating the technical articles to publish.

Qualifications For The Role

  • You are highly skilled in offering technical support with earthing and lightning, cable protection systems, wire and cable management and connectivity solutions.
  • Possess an enhanced knowledge of Electrical standards.
  • You are passionate about providing a first-class experience to the customer.
  • Degree or HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and have a demonstrated track record in providing technical solutions.
  • You are at ease communicating in English.
  • You hold a current driving licence valid in the UK.

The Commercial Essentials product segment includes electrical junction boxes, commercial fittings, strut and cable tray metal framing systems for commercial and residential construction. The Premier Industrial product segment includes multiple product lines, such as Ty-Rap® cable ties, T&B Liquidtight Systems® protection products, PVC coated and nylon conduit systems, power connection and grounding systems, and cable protection systems of conduits and fittings for harsh and industrial applications. The Division also manufactures solutions for medium-voltage applications used in the utility market under its marquee brands including Elastimold™ reclosers and switchgear, capacitor switches, current limiting fuses, Homac™ distribution connectors, Hi-Tech Valiant™ full-range current limiting fuse for fire mitigation, faulted current indicators and distribution connectors, cable accessories and apparatus with products for overhead and underground distribution. Manufacturing includes made-to-stock and custom-made solutions.
