Southbank Centre

Southbank Centre is the UK's largest arts centre and one of Europe's leading cultural destinations, welcoming millions of visitors each year to its iconic riverside estate. As part of a major programme of investment across its 11-acre campus, Southbank Centre is transforming the technology and infrastructure that supports the safety and security of its people, visitors and venues.

We are seeking a Technical Security Project Manager

We are seeking a Technical Security Project Manager to play a key role in the delivery of this programme, helping to shape and modernise security systems across one of the UK's most complex and operationally demanding environments.

This is a role for someone who understands security technology and knows how to bring people together to get things done. You'll act as the crucial link between Property, IT, operational stakeholders and specialist security contractors, ensuring a range of security improvement projects are successfully delivered whilst maintaining the smooth operation of a site that hosts more than 3,000 events every year.

Projects will include the upgrade and integration of CCTV systems, access control technologies, ANPR, bag screening solutions, refuge alarms and wider security infrastructure. You'll help define requirements, engage suppliers, provide technical oversight and ensure new systems are effectively integrated into the wider estate.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Success in this role will come from your ability to understand both the technical and operational picture. You'll be comfortable discussing system architecture and infrastructure with technical specialists one moment, before engaging with non-technical stakeholders to drive decisions and maintain momentum the next.

About You

We are far more interested in your experience delivering security technology and infrastructure than we are in formal project management qualifications. You may currently work within a security integrator, a large estate, a cultural institution, a university, transport environment, local authority or another complex operational setting.

You will bring experience in several of the following areas:

  • CCTV, access control, ANPR, alarm systems or wider electronic security infrastructure
  • Delivering security system upgrades, migrations or integrations
  • Working with security installers, integrators and technical suppliers
  • Acting as the bridge between technical teams, operational stakeholders and external contractors
  • Managing competing priorities across multiple workstreams
  • Producing technical specifications and supporting procurement activities
  • Navigating complex stakeholder environments and building strong relationships
  • Ensuring systems are documented, understood and effectively handed over to operational teams

You do not need to come from a pure project management background. What matters most is your ability to coordinate people, understand security systems and drive delivery in a complex environment.

This is an opportunity to leave a lasting impact on one of the UK's most recognisable cultural institutions. You'll take ownership of meaningful security technology improvements across a unique estate, helping create a safer, more resilient and better connected environment for visitors, performers and colleagues alike.

Alongside a competitive benefits package, you'll be joining an organisation with creativity, collaboration and public engagement at its heart.
