Technical SEO Lead

Retail & Ecommerce

London | Hybrid (2 days per week)

If you're someone who lives and breathes technical SEO, this is one of those opportunities that doesn't come around very often.

You'll be joining a major UK retail business at a pivotal point in their digital journey, taking complete ownership of the SEO strategy across multiple high-traffic ecommerce websites. This isn't about inheriting an established function – it's a genuine blank canvas where you'll have the autonomy to shape the strategy, influence technology decisions, select agency partners, and ultimately build an in-house SEO capability.

Whether you're already leading SEO or you're a Senior Technical SEO Specialist looking to step into your first leadership role, this could be the opportunity to make your mark.

The Opportunity

You'll take ownership of the organic search strategy across a portfolio of large retail websites, ensuring technical SEO is embedded into every digital initiative while driving long-term organic growth.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Owning and delivering the technical SEO strategy across multiple ecommerce websites.
  • Leading large-scale website migrations, ensuring SEO performance is protected and improved.
  • Driving improvements across crawlability, indexing, Core Web Vitals, site architecture, structured data and JavaScript SEO.
  • Building strategies around SEO, GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation) and AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation).
  • Managing and challenging external SEO agencies, with the freedom to choose future agency partners.
  • Working closely with development, product and content teams to ensure SEO best practice is built into every release.
  • Monitoring algorithm updates, competitor activity and emerging search trends.
  • Presenting insights, recommendations and performance updates to senior stakeholders.
  • Helping shape the future of the SEO function, including the opportunity to build an internal team over time.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
