As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Technical Services Manager to join our Middlesbrough site and play a key role in driving food safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across the operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a food manufacturing technical professional who enjoys working cross-functionally, managing quality systems, engaging with customers, and leading site technical standards within a fast-paced FMCG environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Site Head of Technical, you'll take ownership of the site's technical services function, ensuring our quality management systems, customer requirements, and food safety standards are maintained and continuously improved.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and maintaining the site Quality Management System (QMS)
- Leading internal audit programmes and driving closure of non-conformances
- Managing customer complaints, investigations, and responses within agreed timescales
- Supporting customer and third-party audits and visits
- Conducting gap analysis against customer requirements, industry standards, and codes of practice
- Chairing cross-functional meetings and driving actions to completion
- Supporting KPI reporting and technical data submissions
- Managing specification and document control systems
- Providing technical support to production teams to resolve quality and raw material issues
- Supporting packaging and artwork approval processes
- Playing an active role within site HACCP and TACCP teams
- Supporting new product development projects from a food safety and technical perspective
- Managing technical services activities including laboratory testing and results review
- Promoting a strong food safety, quality, and health & safety culture throughout the site

What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent organizational and communication skills.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
- Experience working within a Technical, QA, or Food Safety function
- Knowledge of food safety systems, HACCP, and quality management systems
- Experience managing audits, non-conformances, and customer requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across all levels of the business

Desirable
- HND or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline
- HACCP qualification
- Experience supporting customer audits and retailer requirements
- Knowledge of UK food legislation and industry standards
