Technical Services Manager
We're looking for a Technical Services Manager to provide expert technical leadership across our national portfolio. This is a highly visible role, working closely with Contract Managers, Regional Directors, engineers and clients to ensure our maintenance and engineering activities are delivered safely, compliantly and to the highest technical standards.
This position would suit a technically strong engineer who enjoys being hands-on with problem-solving, providing practical guidance and influencing engineering best practice across a large and diverse range of buildings and critical assets. You'll be trusted as the go-to technical expert for complex M&E systems, major engineering projects, compliance matters, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the company's technical authority on M&E building services systems, providing expert guidance and support to operational teams.
- Support Contract Managers and engineers with complex technical issues, root cause analysis and remedial solutions.
- Provide technical oversight on major engineering projects, including plant replacements, refurbishments and lifecycle works.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards, including L8, HTM guidance, SFG20, water hygiene and fire safety requirements.
- Lead and advise on fire safety compliance and risk management activities.
- Review cooling tower operations, water treatment regimes and associated risk assessments.
- Conduct technical audits, inspections and compliance reviews across client portfolios.
- Assist with the mobilisation of new contracts, asset validation exercises and maintenance strategy development.
- Support tender submissions and provide technical input during client presentations and meetings.
- Develop and deliver technical guidance, mentoring, and training for engineers, supervisors, and operational managers.
- Promote engineering best practice, continuous improvement and technical excellence across the business.

Location:
Nationwide. The role involves frequent travel, with a minimum of three days per week spent visiting sites across our portfolio.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- NEBOSH Fire Certificate.
- Significant experience within the M&E or Building Services maintenance sector.
- Strong technical background in either Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, cooling towers, water hygiene and associated compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of statutory compliance frameworks including SFG20, L8, HTM guidance and fire safety legislation.
- Experience supporting operational teams with technical problem-solving and engineering decision-making.
- Proven experience conducting technical audits, risk assessments and compliance reviews.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, operational teams and senior stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of health and safety legislation, permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and CAFM systems.
- Full UK Driving License.
