Technical Services Manager (Electrical Background)

£51,520 + £140 per month on call + £187.50 per month AP duties

Brief

Technical Services Manager (Electrical Background) needed for a large well-known Facilities Management organisation based in Fife, Kirkcaldy who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Technical Services Manager (Electrical Background) that takes pride in their work. The successful candidate will be overseeing the delivery of Electrical and Hard Services on our NHS Fife contract. You will be responsible for managing contractual requirements, ensuring service levels (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) are consistently met while maintaining critical system integrity and minimizing downtime.

The successful candidate would need to have a relevant qualification - i.e. HNC/HND in Electrical discipline or equivalent / Recognised Electrical qualifications and/or fully qualified Electrician and have a keen interest in managing engineers. If you have commercial experience in a hospital setting that would be a plus!

What the role entails:

  • Manage and support the electrical workforce to successfully deliver contract obligations
  • Ensure critical system integrity with minimal asset downtime
  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring completion and accurate recording
  • Control CAFM systems for job planning, asset registers, and maintenance scheduling
  • Manage Safe Systems of Work, Permit to Work processes, and technical compliance
  • Lead Authorised Person (AP) and Competent Person (CP) resources, fulfilling designated roles
  • Coordinate additional works, lifecycle maintenance, and procurement of materials
  • Manage external supply chain performance, procurement, compliance, and safety
  • Promote and ensure a robust Health, Safety & Environmental culture, including safety reporting and site inspections
  • Maintain and update statutory and contractual documentation: Risk Assessments, Business Continuity Plans, Written Schemes
  • Lead audits (internal and external) ensuring actions are completed to high standards
  • Act as principal client contact, attend stakeholder meetings, and provide timely reports
  • Maintain up-to-date training matrices and Technical Appointments Register
  • Manage HR activities for your team including performance reviews and development plans
  • Liaise with central Service Desk for workforce planning and operational continuity
  • Keep LOPs and operational documentation aligned with legislative and best practice standards
  • Participate as part of the On-Call Managers rota
  • Produce monthly contract performance and energy management reports
  • Effectively manage contract finances, budgets, and forecasts
  • Undertake additional duties as directed by Line Manager

What experience you need to be the successful Technical Services Manager (Electrical Background):

Essential:

  • HNC/HND in Electrical discipline or equivalent
  • Recognised Electrical qualifications and/or fully qualified Electrician
  • Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience in similar contract management role
  • Strong leadership, communication, and financial management skills
  • Proven experience in managing hard services delivery to contractual standards
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Due to the nature of the contract, you will be required to obtain and maintain a Disclosure Scotland to PVG Level.
  • Proficient in administrative tasks and software (Microsoft Word, Excel, CAFM Systems)

Desirable:

  • Experience in healthcare sector facilities management
  • Knowledge of technical standards such as SHTM 06-01, 06-02, 06-03
  • LV & HV Appointed/Authorised Person certification
  • Experience with Confined Spaces, Fire Safety, Lifts management
  • Project management experience delivering live environment works
