Technical Services Manager (Property & FM)

Staffordshire | Hybrid Working

£55,944 - £63,522 per annum

Opus People Solutions is delighted to be partnering with Staffordshire Police on the recruitment of a Technical Services Manager (Property & FM) within its shared Estates Service. Supporting both Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service, this is a rare opportunity to influence a diverse operational estate that plays a critical role in protecting communities across Staffordshire.

This is a unique opportunity to join an organisation at the heart of public service, responsible for maintaining and developing the buildings and infrastructure that support frontline emergency services across the county.

From fire stations and training facilities to operational buildings and critical public service assets, the Estates Service plays a vital role in ensuring emergency services can operate safely, effectively, and efficiently. This role offers the chance to make a genuine impact on communities whilst leading a diverse technical property portfolio.

Following a recent transformation of the Estates Service, the organisation is investing in its future leadership capability and strengthening how it manages compliance, technical services, maintenance programmes, and capital investment across both Police and Fire estates.

What stood out during our conversations with the leadership team was the organisation's commitment to collaboration, trust, flexibility, and continuous improvement. These are organisations that are investing in their future, empowering their people, and creating an environment where talented property professionals can make a visible and lasting impact.

For candidates currently working in local government, healthcare, education, defence, blue-light services, or the private sector, this is an opportunity to join an organisation where your work directly supports community safety and frontline public services.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Service Director - Estates, you will provide technical leadership across the Fire Service estate, whilst contributing to the wider shared Estates Service supporting both Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service.

You will be responsible for leading technical compliance, maintenance, contractor management, and capital project delivery across a complex operational property portfolio. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will ensure facilities remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose, whilst supporting the organisation's long-term estate strategy.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
