About Us
Haywood and Padgett are a leading food manufacturer, located in Barnsley. We are an established company, with a stable order book. The company has a family feel, is professional, friendly, open cultured, and all employees are well respected and valued. Our company believes that it is not just a job that you undertake, but a developing career, no matter what level you join us. Many employees have been with the company for some years, and we have a relatively low turnover of staff.

The working environment is newly designed, determined to house the latest technology and as you would expect from a food manufacturing site, is scrupulously organised and clean.

Due to an ever-increasing demand for our delicious product ranges, we require a technical services manager.

The Role
Our technical department plays a crucial role in maintaining and monitoring compliance, hygiene, quality, retail and product specifications, auditing, and much more.

We are specifically looking for someone with very strong experience and extensive exposure to retailer codes of practice, product authenticity requirements, and compliance within food manufacturing. This is essential for success in this role.

The technical services manager will have the overall responsibility for all technical services relating to new production development, liaising with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure a smooth transition.

The technical service manager will work predominantly, and very closely with the technical manager, new product development manager, commercial and production teams, as well as liaising with team colleagues and other essential departments.

  • Updating and reviewing retailer product specifications as and when required
  • Raising derogations and concessions
  • Responding to customer enquiries responsively, in a timely manner
  • Creating and approving customer packaging requirements

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
