Technical Solutions Consultant | Tax & Technology | London / Remote | £70,000 - £80,000
If you started your career in tax and have since moved into technology, this is the kind of role where both sides of your background actually matter.
The business is looking for someone who understands tax from first-hand experience, but who has also developed the technical and customer-facing skills to turn complex requirements into practical solutions.
You might have started in the Big 4, tax advisory or an in-house tax team, perhaps progressing to Tax Manager level, before moving into a role such as Business Analyst, Technical Consultant, Solutions Consultant, Product Owner, Product Manager or Project Manager.
Your current technology role does not need to be tax-focused.
What matters is that you can understand a tax problem, get into the detail of the data and process behind it, and work with customers and internal technical teams to figure out how technology can solve it.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll sit between customers, Product, Implementation and Technology, taking complex business requirements and helping turn them into workable solutions.
The role will involve:
- Working directly with tax and finance teams to understand their processes, requirements and pain points
- Running customer workshops and gathering detailed requirements
- Translating tax and business requirements into technical solutions, workflows and use cases
- Working hands-on with data using Excel, Power BI, SQL and/or Alteryx
- Investigating data and technical issues and working through practical solutions
- Building and developing new use cases within the platform
- Working closely with Product and Implementation teams to get solutions delivered
- Demonstrating platform functionality and new solutions to customers and internal stakeholders
- Feeding customer requirements, user behaviour and market insight back into Product
- Acting as the link between the customer problem and the teams responsible for building and delivering the technology

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The underlying brief is centred on exactly that bridge between customers, Product, Implementation and Technology, with a strong emphasis on understanding customer challenges, building use cases and solving technical problems.
What we’re looking for
The key requirement is the combination of genuine tax experience and subsequent technology experience.
A strong background could look like:
- Several years within Big 4 or tax advisory, followed by a move into technology
- An in-house Tax Manager who has moved into systems, transformation, product or technology
- A tax professional who has transitioned into a Business Analyst, Product, Project or Technical Consulting role
- Someone now working in a customer-facing technology position who still has strong underlying tax knowledge

You’ll also need:
- Strong Excel skills
- Practical experience with Power BI, with SQL and/or Alteryx also highly relevant
- Experience working directly with customers or senior business stakeholders
- Confidence gathering requirements and turning them into something a technical or product team can work with
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
- Enough technical depth to get into data, systems and workflows rather than operating purely as a project coordinator
- A solid grounding in tax, ideally supported by a relevant tax or accounting qualification
The role specifically requires tax/accounting knowledge alongside logical problem-solving, SQL and the ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
Why this role?
It’s a particularly interesting move for someone who has already made the transition from tax into technology and wants a role where that tax background gives them an advantage rather than becoming something they leave behind.
You’ll stay close to customers, data and real business problems, while working across Product and Technology and having input into how solutions and new use cases are developed.
There’s also genuine variety in the work. One conversation could be with a tax team trying to improve an existing process, the next could involve analysing data, working through a technical issue with Product, or helping shape how a new use case should work.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
