Technical Specialist - Chemistry
Salary: £33,739 - £38,825 per annum
Full Time/ Fixed Term contract (9 Months)
About The Role
One exciting vacancy has arisen for a Technical Specialist in Chemistry to manage a suite of research labs. The role involves working with the chemistry academic team to support undergraduate and masters level teaching and research projects, in the areas of Chemistry and physical science.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the research labs are kept to the highest standards of Health and Safety, cleanliness, and organisation. Equipment within these spaces will be maintained and demonstrated to students during practical sessions. Training on equipment for research students and junior staff members will also be undertaken. Excellent communication skills are essential to liaise with the academic team to determine technical requirements, manage the workload of the technical team, and to assist students in the labs where required.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with relevant experience, either within a higher education/training environment, or industry. Ideally the post holder will have previous managerial experience.
You will also be expected to be flexible and support colleagues and students in other areas of the School of Science and Technology, as part of a School-wide technical team.
