Be the Technical Authority Behind Arcus FM's Secure Solutions
We're looking for an experienced Technical Specialist & Trainer to become the go-to technical expert for our Shutters, Gates & Secure division.
This is a unique opportunity for a highly skilled engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and sharing their expertise with others. You'll provide expert support across a wide range of secure access systems while developing the capability of engineers and managers through structured technical training and coaching.

What You'll Be Doing
Technical Leadership
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex technical issues across shutters, doors, gates, barriers, and access control systems.
- Provide remote and on-site diagnostic support to engineers, managers, and operational teams.
- Develop and embed a consistent technical triage process to improve fault diagnosis and resolution.
Training & Capability Development
- Design and deliver technical training programmes for engineers and Managing Engineers.
- Support competency assessments, coaching, mentoring, and technical sign-off activities.
- Create and maintain technical guidance, SOPs, bulletins, and training materials.

Improving Operational Performance
- Provide technical input into quotations, BER recommendations, and scope development.
- Reduce repeat visits, callbacks, and incorrect parts ordering through improved technical support.
- Analyse recurring failures and identify opportunities to improve safety, asset uptime, and first-time fix performance.
Compliance & Industry Standards
- Ensure technical advice, training, and procedures remain aligned to legislation, manufacturer guidance, and industry standards.
- Promote safe working practices, risk assessment, and compliance across all activities.
- Support the introduction of new products, technologies, and service improvements.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with clients, manufacturers, suppliers, and operational teams.
- Produce clear technical reports and recommendations.
- Support technical recruitment, apprenticeships, and talent development initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Significant hands-on experience installing, servicing, commissioning, and fault-finding on:
- Automatic doors
- Roller shutters
- Industrial and high-speed doors
- Gates and barriers
- Loading bay equipment
- Access control and secure systems
- Strong electrical and mechanical diagnostic expertise.
- Knowledge of relevant standards including BS EN 16005, BS EN 12453, and associated health and safety requirements.
- Experience delivering technical training, coaching, or competency assessments.
- Full UK Driving Licence.

Qualifications
- Relevant engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC, HNC/HND, DHF, ADSA, or equivalent industry experience.
- Current industry certification (DHF, ADSA, or equivalent).
- 18th Edition qualification desirable.
- Teaching, training, or assessor qualification desirable.
Benefits include:
- Salary: £56,000 - £62,000 depending on experience
- 4% bonus, subject to achievement of targets
- 25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays.
