Contract period: Temporary position that will terminate on or before 27 September 2027 on the return of the Senior Technical Specialist, Biodiversity & Nature-Based Solutions from parental leave
Start date: October 2026
We are seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Technical Specialist, REDD+ & Biodiversity (Parental Leave Cover). You will play a central role in the ongoing design and development of REDD+ projects in West Africa with a specific focus on biodiversity. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with country teams and partners to drive these projects forward, with the development of the biodiversity sections of REDD+ Project Design Documents (PDD) in readiness for project validation.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and design REDD+ projects focusing on biodiversity in West Africa.
- Collaborate closely with country teams and partners.
- Develop biodiversity sections of REDD+ Project Design Documents (PDD) for project validation.
- Mentor and build technical capacities of regional staff and partners.
- Problem-solve and deliver high-quality work on time.
Requirements:
- Substantial field work experience.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Ability to develop complex technical reports.
- Proven understanding of REDD+ projects or other conservation approaches addressing climate change.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time well.
- Potential for some international travel.
