On 1 April 2026, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) became one national organisation, focused on continuity today and a stronger, more connected service for tomorrow.
As part of this transformation, NSS and NES have joined to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and ensuring the long-term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland.
About The Organisation
PSD Scotland unites expertise from NES and NSS in a way that will allow us to accelerate national programmes to support the NHS to deliver better care, now and in the future.
We support staff with education and training, provide the tools and data that improve services, and run vital national functions such as procurement, logistics and blood, tissue and cell services.
The Post
This role sits within the Data and Analytics function, supporting the development and delivery of national data services across NHS Scotland. The team operates at the core of data-driven delivery, working on the design, structure, and quality of data that underpins critical reporting, insights, and services.
The postholder will work closely with technical colleagues, delivery teams, and stakeholders across health and social care to translate business needs into robust, scalable data solutions. This includes working with large and complex datasets, contributing to data modelling approaches, and supporting the development of data pipelines and logical data warehouse structures.
The Technical Analyst plays a critical role in providing the foundations for data solution development. This includes documenting how data is sourced, how it flows through systems, and how it must be transformed, structured, and validated to meet business needs.
The postholder will define and document data requirements, data mappings, and transformation logic, ensuring that development teams have clear, accurate, and implementable specifications to build robust data pipelines and data warehouse solutions.
You will be involved across the full delivery lifecycle, from shaping requirements through to supporting implementation and validation, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams using Agile and DevOps approaches.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
