About the Role

Join an award-winning and highly respected architectural and interior design practice in a new, key role for their centralized technical group. Reporting into the Head of Technical, you will work as the Technical Specification Lead, responsible for developing and maintaining specification standards across the practice's project pipeline. Specifically, you will lead their transition from CAWs to Uniclass.

As Technical Specification Lead, you play a vital role in ensuring project information remains coordinated, compliant, and aligned with current legislation and industry best practice. The position combines strategic leadership with active project involvement, alongside shaping practice-wide standards on major projects in the UK and Overseas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the practice-wide transition from CAWS to Uniclass 2015 using their cloud-based construction spec platform.
  • Develop a suite of master-specs to establish processes for creation, review, and issue of the specs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Act as lead specifier on major projects and support wider teams in resolving complex construction-related issues.
  • Work closely with the practice’s digital team to focus on improved integration into the wider BIM workflow.
  • Develop technical confidence capability across multiple teams via workshops and mentoring.

Requirements

  • Extensive UK construction industry experience, focused mainly around architectural and/or interior fit-out specification work.
  • Strong understanding of Uniclass, the Building Safety Act, and BIM, plus the ability to communicate this understanding effectively.
  • Professional qualifications such as MCIAT, RIBA, or CIOB would be expected, unless someone has the relevant equivalent experience.
