The Opportunity
Are you an experienced technical specialist looking for an inspiring leadership role where quality, innovation, and teamwork come together? At Holcim, we are passionate about building progress for people and the planet, and we are looking for a Technical Supervisor to guide our team and uphold excellence across our operations.
In this vital role, you will take responsibility for running our UKAS accredited facility at Coleman's Laboratory, overseeing a dedicated team of three technicians in the South West Technical Area. You will maintain high standards of testing, sampling, and inspection while providing essential guidance to operational, commercial, and sales colleagues.
Key Functions:
- Oversee day-to-day operations and UKAS standards within Coleman's Laboratory, guiding three laboratory technicians.
- Manage and monitor the quality and compliance of aggregate and asphalt products across the South West region.
- Support and coach team members through training, skill development, and regular safety conversations.
- Develop and maintain cost-effective asphalt and aggregate mix designs, ensuring quality reporting standards are consistently met.
- Handle technical enquiries and resolve customer queries with clear, value-adding solutions.
- Perform trend analyses using statistical tools to review product performance and raw material utilisation.

Who you are
You are a collaborative and safety-conscious technical professional who takes pride in maintaining high standards and supporting team success. You enjoy sharing your technical expertise, building constructive relationships across different departments, and encouraging continuous learning within your team.
Your Skills and Attributes:
- Technical Knowledge: You have a thorough understanding of asphalt and aggregate specifications, testing protocols, and production processes, combined with a solid familiarity with ISO 9001 and construction standards.
- Team Leadership: You are skilled in guiding, mentoring, and inspiring team members to perform at their best while promoting an inclusive and safe environment.
- Communication: You possess strong written and numerical skills, allowing you to interpret technical specifications, conduct trend analyses, and present clear reports.
- Problem Solving: You are adaptable and solution-focused, with the ability to navigate complex situations and address customer needs efficiently.
- Qualifications: You hold or are working towards professional membership (e.g., Institute of Asphalt Technology or Institute of Quarrying), or have equivalent industry experience. A full UK driving licence is required to support the geographic area.
