THE TEAM
Join the Business Development team at JSM Group Services Ltd., a specialist electrical and civil engineering company delivering the design, installation, and commissioning of Extra High Voltage (EHV) cable systems and substations across transmission and distribution networks. We work alongside grid operators, utilities, and major infrastructure clients to deliver critical power projects safely and to the highest technical standards.
We are building a workplace that is not only a leading force in the utility sector in the UK but also a beacon of exemplary workplace culture and social responsibility. Our Business Development team sits at the heart of our growth, translating technical expertise into winning proposals and trusted client relationships.
SCOPE OF ROLE
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Support Assistant to provide administrative, coordination, and technical support to our Business Development team. This role sits at the intersection of engineering operations and project administration, helping to ensure that documentation, compliance records, technical queries, and internal communications are managed efficiently across our EHV cable and substation projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in electrical or civil engineering support who wants to develop their knowledge of high-voltage infrastructure in a fast-paced, project-driven environment, reporting to the Head of Business Development.
Technical & Administrative Support
- Provide day-to-day technical and administrative support to the Business Development department, working with clients on EHV cable installation and substation construction projects.
- Prepare documentation for the application of Budget Estimates and Formal Offers to DNOs (Distribution Network Operators).
- Carry out high-level budget costs for EHV cable installation and substation construction projects.
- Assist in preparing technical submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and technical PQQs (Pre-Quote Questionnaires).
- Support the engineering team with research into technical standards, including ENA Engineering Recommendations and IEC/BS standards relevant to EHV cable systems and substation equipment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
