Overview
Our client, a major automotive organisation, is looking for an Automotive Technical Support Engineer to provide expert diagnostic and repair support across its dealer network. This title is already in active use on LinkedIn for closely comparable automotive technical support roles.
You will resolve complex technical enquiries through remote diagnosis, diagnostic systems and dealer site visits, taking ownership of cases and helping to deliver effective, customer-focused solutions. You will also contribute to technical support process improvements and help dealers resolve issues efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality technical support and repair guidance to the dealer network.
- Diagnose complex vehicle faults remotely and, where required, through dealer site visits.
- Take ownership of technical cases and provide clear guidance through to resolution.
- Coach and support dealer teams with hands-on repair and diagnostic advice.
- Collaborate with customer service, technical, manufacturing and learning teams to resolve cases.
- Meet required standards for technical quality and response times.
- Identify opportunities to improve technical support processes and prevent recurring issues.
- Use technology and proactive problem-solving to improve customer outcomes and repair efficiency.

Requirements
- Proven vehicle diagnostic experience across a range of vehicle systems.
- Broad experience of vehicle repairs.
- Master Technician qualification.
- Strong computer and analytical skills for technical troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information effectively at different levels.
- Ability to manage multiple technical issues independently while working effectively within a collaborative team.
- A proactive approach to both fault prevention and resolution.
- Full UK driving licence.
