About The Role
Internal Technical Sales Engineer Industrial Electrical Control & Automation is a pivotal role within our client's organization, designed to support sales and technical functions related to electrical control and automation products. The successful candidate will act as a key point of contact for external customers, providing expert advice, technical support, and product recommendations to maximize sales opportunities. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, control gear, automation equipment, and associated components. The candidate will collaborate closely with field sales teams and other internal departments to achieve sales targets while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. The position is ideal for a professional living in the North of the Tyne area, including North Shields, Whitley Bay, Wallsend, Longbenton, Jesmond, Cramlington, and Blyth, who is seeking a challenging role in a dynamic environment that combines technical expertise with commercial acumen.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess relevant electrical engineering knowledge and experience, demonstrating a strong technical background and customer service skills. While formal qualifications such as ONC/HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent are preferred, candidates with proven practical knowledge, product application expertise, and commercial awareness will also be considered. Essential qualifications include GCSE Maths and English or equivalent. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry systems is required. A full clean driving license is mandatory, as the role may involve travel to client sites or supplier locations. Experience in electrical distribution, control systems, or automation industries will be advantageous, along with prior experience in sales, customer service, or technical support environments. Candidates with a background as an electrical engineer, technical support engineer, or recent graduates with customer-facing experience and a desire to develop a career in technical sales are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to all technical and product-related inquiries from customers, providing accurate and detailed information to support their purchasing decisions.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the full product range, including control gear, switchgear, automation equipment, variable speed drives, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, instrumentation, cable management systems, and ATEX equipment.
- Offer technical advice and recommend suitable products or alternatives based on customer requirements, ensuring optimal solutions are provided.
- Assist in the preparation of quotations, considering competitive pricing and profitability margins to secure orders while maintaining company standards.
- Collaborate with Field Sales Engineers and internal teams to achieve sales targets, share market insights, and develop strategic approaches to customer engagement.
- Maintain and develop long-term customer relationships through effective communication, technical support, and after-sales service.
- Participate in product training sessions and stay updated on new product developments, industry trends, and technological advancements.
- Support marketing initiatives and promotional activities to increase product visibility and market penetration.
- Engage in administrative duties such as order processing, data entry, and maintaining accurate customer records.
