About The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a technically inclined individual to develop into a key technical role within Emkay Plastics Limited. We are seeking a practical and motivated person to join our team as a Technical Support Engineer, working closely with and supporting our Chief Technical Officer (CTO). This role is designed not merely as administrative support but as a hands-on position that involves understanding manufacturing processes, machinery, and technical drawings. The successful candidate will work alongside our CTO, gaining valuable experience and gradually assuming responsibility for routine and intermediate technical activities. This role offers a unique chance to develop comprehensive technical knowledge across various areas, including CAD, manufacturing, quality systems, and customer support, within a supportive and innovative environment.
Qualifications
- Strong technical aptitude with an interest in engineering, manufacturing, or related fields.
- Experience in or familiarity with CAD, CNC machining, laser cutting, or engineering drawings is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Good computer skills, including proficiency with relevant software and systems.
- Practical, logical approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Willingness to learn new machinery, manufacturing processes, and software tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Effective communication skills to liaise confidently with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Enthusiasm for developing technical knowledge and taking on increasing responsibilities.

Responsibilities
The role encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities that will evolve as your experience grows:
- Review and interpret technical drawings and CAD files to support manufacturing activities.
- Prepare job cards and assist with quotations for laser cutting and machining projects.
- Understand and apply tolerances, materials, and manufacturing requirements to ensure quality and precision.
- Provide technical support to production teams, assisting with troubleshooting machinery and resolving technical issues.
- Liaise with equipment suppliers to support machinery maintenance and troubleshooting efforts.
- Support oven processes and learn critical production procedures to optimize manufacturing efficiency.
- Assist the Sales Team by providing technical support and responding to customer inquiries.
- Participate in quality control processes, ensuring compliance with standards and specifications.
- Manage and maintain equipment calibration records and schedules to ensure operational accuracy.
- Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation to support consistent manufacturing practices.
- Contribute to maintaining ISO and other accreditation requirements in collaboration with senior management.
- Support internal projects related to technical systems, software, and process improvements.
- Assist with technical trials, development projects, and the implementation of new manufacturing methods.
- Maintain comprehensive technical records, ensuring knowledge transfer and process continuity.
- Participate in sustainability initiatives, exhibitions, sample preparation, and website/intranet updates as required.
