About The Role
An exciting opportunity to develop into a key technical role within a specialized manufacturing environment. Emkay Plastics Limited is seeking a practical, technically minded individual to join our team as a Technical Support Engineer. This role involves working closely with and supporting our Chief Technical Officer (CTO), contributing to a variety of technical activities that underpin our manufacturing and engineering processes. This position is not merely administrative; it offers a chance to gain hands-on experience across multiple technical disciplines, including drawings, machinery, materials, and manufacturing procedures. The successful candidate will assist in reviewing technical drawings, supporting production with technical queries, troubleshooting machinery, and maintaining technical documentation, all while developing their skills and knowledge in a fast-paced, innovative setting.
The role provides a structured pathway to take on increasing responsibility, working alongside experienced professionals to understand complex technical processes and contribute meaningfully to ongoing projects. As part of the team, you will support quality control, assist with ISO and accreditation compliance, and participate in development projects that enhance our manufacturing capabilities. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical aptitude and a keen interest in engineering and manufacturing. Relevant experience in engineering, manufacturing, CNC, CAD, or technical production is advantageous but not essential, provided there is a demonstrated willingness to learn. Candidates should have a practical and logical approach to problem solving, with the ability to understand measurements, dimensions, and technical information. Proficiency with computer systems, including CAD software and Microsoft Office, is desirable. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accurate records are essential. A proactive mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are also important. Candidates with an interest in learning to interpret engineering drawings and understanding manufacturing processes will be highly valued.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will undertake a diverse range of technical activities, including but not limited to:
- Review and interpret technical drawings and CAD files to support manufacturing processes.
- Prepare job cards and assist in generating quotations for laser cutting and machining work.
- Understand and apply tolerances, material specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
- Support production teams by resolving technical queries and providing troubleshooting assistance.
- Assist in machinery troubleshooting, liaising with equipment suppliers to resolve issues promptly.
- Support oven and other critical production processes, learning essential procedures.
- Provide technical support to the sales team and respond effectively to customer inquiries.
- Participate in quality control activities, ensuring compliance with standards and specifications.
- Manage and maintain equipment calibration records and schedules to ensure operational accuracy.
- Develop, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.
- Support ISO and other accreditation requirements, working closely with the CTO and COO.
- Assist with technical systems, software, and internal projects aimed at process improvement.
- Contribute to technical trials, development projects, and the implementation of new manufacturing processes.
- Maintain comprehensive technical records, ensuring critical knowledge is properly documented.
- Participate in cross-disciplinary projects such as sustainability initiatives, exhibitions, and website content updates.
