About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and technically inclined individual to join Emkay Plastics Limited as a Technical Support Engineer. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone eager to develop into a key technical position within our organization. The successful candidate will work closely with and support our Chief Technical Officer, gaining hands-on experience across various technical and manufacturing processes. This position is not merely administrative; it requires a practical mindset, a keen interest in understanding how machinery, drawings, and manufacturing workflows operate, and a passion for technical problem-solving. Over time, the role will evolve to include greater responsibilities, enabling the individual to contribute significantly to project development, process improvement, and technical innovation.

Qualifications

  • A background or interest in engineering, manufacturing, CNC machining, CAD, or related technical fields.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical and logical approach.
  • Comfortable working with measurements, technical data, and engineering drawings.
  • Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with software relevant to design, manufacturing, or documentation.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Willingness to learn new machinery, software, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of liaising confidently with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proactive attitude with the willingness to ask questions, escalate issues, and seek continuous improvement.
  • Desire to develop technical knowledge and take on increasing responsibilities over time.

Experience with CAD, CNC machining, laser cutting, engineering drawings, or quality systems would be advantageous but is not essential; a strong technical aptitude and eagerness to learn are equally valued.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret technical drawings and CAD files to support manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in preparing job cards and supporting quotations for laser cutting and machining work.
  • Understand and apply tolerances, material specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Provide technical support to production teams by troubleshooting machinery and resolving technical issues.
  • Liaise with equipment suppliers to support machinery maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
  • Support oven and other process-related procedures, ensuring adherence to critical production standards.
  • Respond to technical queries from the Sales Team and assist in addressing customer inquiries.
  • Participate in quality control activities, ensuring products meet specified standards and requirements.
  • Maintain and update equipment calibration records and schedules to ensure precision and compliance.
  • Assist in creating, maintaining, and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.
  • Support ISO and other accreditation processes in collaboration with senior management.
  • Contribute to internal projects involving technical systems, software, and process improvements.
  • Participate in technical trials, development projects, and the implementation of new manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensure technical records are properly maintained, and knowledge is accurately documented for future reference.
  • Engage in additional projects such as sustainability initiatives, exhibitions, samples, and website/intranet updates as opportunities arise.
