Job Description
Job Overview - Technical Support Engineer, Goudhurst, £35,000–£45,000
GIBIDI UK Ltd is the sole UK distributor for GIBIDI Italy, supplying gate automation to trade installers across the country. We're hiring a Technical Support Engineer at our Goudhurst, Kent office. You're the person installers get through to when they're stood at a gate with a problem - you diagnose the fault and talk them through the fix. Alongside that, you'd repair everything that comes back to us and run our hands-on installer training days. It's off the tools but still in the trade: Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm, home every night. We'll teach you the product range in full.
Duties
- Answering the phone to installers, diagnosing the fault and talking them through the fix. This is most of the job.
- Repairing everything that comes back to us: motors, control boards, all GIBIDI equipment.
- Running the hands-on installer training days.
- Advising on the right kit for a gate - weight, leaf length, duty cycle, 230V vs 24V, hydraulic vs electromechanical, safety compliance.
- Identifying parts from a customer's description or a photo and turning them into a part number and an order.
- Triaging warranty returns - separating a genuine product fault from an install error before it becomes a credit note.
- Writing up recurring faults so the same call doesn't come in twice.

Requirements
- Hands-on gate, barrier or access control experience - this is the one thing we can't teach quickly.
- Able to read a wiring diagram and fault-find by logic rather than guesswork.
- Able to explain a fix to someone who can't see what you're seeing.
- Patience on the phone when the caller is having a bad day.
- Organised enough to write down what happened.
- Experience in adjacent trades (CCTV, intruder alarm, door entry, industrial doors and barriers) considered - most of the skill transfers, the product training is on us.
