1st / 2nd Line Support - Windows / Microsoft
Salary: £30,000 – £38,000 Per Annum
Location: Rainham, Essex
Working set-up: Monday – Friday | On-site
Summary:
Our Client is looking to strengthen their internal IT function with the appointment of a 1st / 2nd Line Support professional. This is a varied, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys solving technical issues, supporting users and getting involved with the wider IT environment. You'll be part of a small IT function, working closely with an IT Specialist and external technology partners while taking responsibility for a range of day-to-day support and infrastructure tasks.
It's a great opportunity for a 1st / 2nd Line Support professional who wants to build on their existing support experience and gain broader exposure across Microsoft technologies, infrastructure, cloud services and security.
The Role:
You'll provide day-to-day technical support across the business while assisting with the administration and maintenance of the company's IT environment.
Responsibilities:
- Providing 1st / 2nd Line Support to users across the business (in person and remotely).
- Troubleshooting issues relating to Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365 and desktop hardware.
- Supporting and maintaining approximately 30 – 40 PCs / devices, alongside the company's physical and virtual server estate.
- Assisting with the administration of Windows Server, Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Supporting user accounts, permissions and licensing within Microsoft 365.
- Assisting with Microsoft 365 security and mobile device management.
- Deploying Windows, Office and other software updates across the environment.
- Monitoring and maintaining endpoint security and antivirus systems.
- Carrying out routine system maintenance and checks to help prevent avoidable technical issues.
- Supporting backup processes and monitoring successful completion of scheduled backups.
- Investigating backup failures and escalating issues where appropriate.
- Working with the external IT support provider when additional technical assistance is required.
- Helping assess and implement new Microsoft technologies, cloud services and integrations.
- Contributing to ongoing improvements across the company's IT infrastructure.

What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone with previous experience in an IT support or desktop support environment, ideally with exposure to both user support and Microsoft infrastructure.
You'll ideally have experience with the following:
- Windows OS (10/11)
- Microsoft 365 / M365
- Windows Server
- Active Directory
- Group Policy
- Exchange Online
- Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD
- Intune / MDM technologies
- Backup technologies such as Acronis
- Antivirus / endpoint security administration
- Hyper-V or VMware
- Desktop and hardware troubleshooting
- Microsoft Office
The Person:
We're looking for someone who takes a proactive approach to IT support rather than simply reacting when something goes wrong. You'll need to be organised, methodical and comfortable prioritising multiple requests while maintaining a high level of service for users. Good communication skills are important, as you'll be dealing with colleagues across the business as well as external IT partners.

- £30,000 – £38,000 (depending on experience)
- Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm working hours (No weekend shifts)
