Location: Bovington, Dorset (Full-time, Site-Based)
Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain SC Clearance
The Opportunity
We are seeking a technically minded and customer-focused Technical Support Engineer to support the delivery, operation, and maintenance of advanced military training and simulation systems used by UK Land Forces.
This is a highly visible, customer-facing position where you will act as the primary on-site representative, supporting military instructors and end users while ensuring critical training equipment remains fully operational and available for use.
The role would suit candidates with a background in technical support, communications systems, simulation environments, electrical/electronic engineering, maintenance, or military technology support. Whilst previous military experience would be advantageous, it is not essential for candidates with strong technical troubleshooting and customer support skills.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver training support using advanced simulation and synthetic training systems.
- Act as the main point of contact for users, instructors, and customers during training activities.
- Carry out routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and fault-finding activities.
- Diagnose technical issues, provide first-line resolution where possible, and escalate complex faults to engineering teams.
- Ensure training systems remain operational, available, and fit for purpose.
- Support equipment installations, upgrades, testing, and site acceptance activities.
- Produce training and post-exercise reports, capturing lessons learned and performance data.
- Build strong working relationships with military personnel and key stakeholders.
- Monitor system performance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the onboarding and mentoring of new team members when required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
