CPMS Technical Support - EV Charging - Knaresborough or Remote - Hybrid/Flexible - £24,050 pa (26 hrs/wk) / £37,000 FTE - 9 Month FTC (Maternity Cover)
About the Role
Our client, a rapidly growing organisation with a wider fleet EV infrastructure estate, is looking for a proactive CPMS Technical Support to take ownership of their EV Charging Point Management System (CPMS).
You will be accountable for ensuring optimum system uptime, reliability, and efficiency of the EV charging network, acting as a technical lead between systems, clients, OEM partners, and engineering teams. While you'll support reactive callouts when required, the primary focus is resolving issues remotely through intelligent system management, automation, and diagnosis of faults and fault codes.
The ideal candidate will be proactive with a can-do attitude and strong ownership mentality, comfortable working autonomously and making decisions, naturally driven to improve systems and processes, with strong attention to detail and a structured, logical approach, and a confident communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience in a technical support role
- Strong track record of diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues remotely
- Experience working in operational or service-critical environments with uptime responsibility
- Experience collaborating with field engineering teams and external partners
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid UK Driving Licence
- Flexibility in working hours and approach, an attitude to see a task through

Desirable:
- Experience working directly with OEMs or hardware manufacturers
- Experience managing firmware, configuration, or interoperability across multiple OEM vendors
- Experience with CPMS platforms, OCPP, OCPI, or similar protocols
- Experience within EV charging, energy, utilities, or smart infrastructure sectors
- Experience with automation, scripting, or platform optimisation
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the CPMS platform and associated EV charging infrastructure network
- Monitor, manage, and optimise performance across the client EV estate to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency
- Diagnose and resolve the majority of faults remotely through the CPMS system
- Diagnose faults and coordinate with planners and engineers
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex network and system issues
- Work closely with field engineers during reactive callouts, providing technical guidance and root cause analysis
- Work directly with OEM partners to manage interoperability, firmware, configuration, and platform integration
- Develop, document, and continuously improve operational processes and workflows
- Analyse network and charger performance data to proactively prevent faults
- Support onboarding of new charging sites and clients into the CPMS environment
- Contribute to future team structure, training, and capability as the estate grows
- Maintain strong client and stakeholder communication where required
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the network operations team to achieve organisational goals
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members
