Ref: H7556, H7558, H7559

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Dacorum Borough Council's Property Services Team for three Technical Support Officers to support the delivery of our housing improvement programmes.

Working as part of a friendly and collaborative team of surveyors, technical specialists and administrative staff, you will play an important role in supporting either:

  • Disabled Adaptations that help residents live safely and independently in their homes, or
  • Retrofit and Sustainability Projects that improve the energy efficiency and environmental performance of our housing stock.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and customer-focused individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to make a positive difference to local communities.

About The Role

As a Technical Support Officer, you will provide vital administrative and coordination support to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and residents receive an excellent service throughout their journey.

You will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating appointments, liaising with residents, contractors and external partners
  • Maintaining accurate records
  • Processing documentation
  • Helping to monitor the progress of projects from referral through to completion

No two days are the same, and you will play a key role in ensuring programmes run smoothly, deadlines are met and customers remain informed throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Adaptations and Sustainability teams
  • Coordinate appointments, surveys and contractor visits
  • Manage and maintain accurate records, databases and project information
  • Monitor project progress and support the tracking of key performance indicators
  • Liaise with residents, contractors, Occupational Therapists and other stakeholders
  • Prepare correspondence, reports and documentation
  • Support the processing of grant applications, orders, invoices and other project-related information
  • Assist in responding to customer enquiries and resolving issues in a professional and empathetic manner
  • Ensure compliance with Council procedures and service standards

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Information for Applicants on Local Government Reorganisation

The Council is going through a major change as part of Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) and devolution. This means that the district and borough councils in Hertfordshire will be replaced by a smaller number of new unitary councils.

The aim is to make local government simpler and more efficient, improve services for residents, and bring decision-making closer to the communities we serve.

What This Means For You

If you join Dacorum Borough Council between now and 31 March 2028, you will move to a new organisation on 1 April 2028. Your role will transfer to the new authority, but the way you work and who you report to may change.

While this may be different from what you are used to, it is also a rare and exciting opportunity to join Dacorum at a time of real change.

You will have the chance to help shape the future of local services and be part of building something new.

The new unitary councils will create opportunities for innovation, growth, and better public services. They will offer a more joined-up and forward-looking working environment for employees.

We are committed to supporting our staff and continuing to deliver high-quality services for residents throughout this change. Together, we are building a better future.
