Technical Surveyor (CAD Technician)
Company Description UKTC is a UKAS accredited testing and certification body specialising in fire performance, security and construction product certification services for the built environment. As part of the SOCOTEC UK & Ireland group, UKTC supports manufacturers, fabricators and installers in demonstrating compliance with recognised national and international standards through independent third-party certification and testing services. We are currently expanding our certification team to support the continued growth of our UKTC Ensure certification schemes, including fire resistant and enhanced security doorset certification. This is an opportunity to join a growing technical business operating at the forefront of product assurance, compliance and building safety within the construction sector. You will work alongside experienced certification, laboratory and technical professionals within a business focused on competence, integrity and continual improvement. Job Description As a Technical Surveyor at UKTC, you will play a crucial role in our fire resistance testing operations. You will witness specimen installations to verify their dimensions, materials, and construction methods, producing detailed 'as built' CAD drawings and component schedules that form part of subsequent fire test reports. Key Responsibilities: Review clients' drawings and bill of materials prior to installation to ensure sufficient information for conducting surveys Liaise with Technical Officers and clients to obtain and clarify information and drawings Conduct accurate surveys of specimens, recording details and verifying them against client-provided information through measurements and photographs Produce elevation and section drawings, component schedules, and written descriptions of test specimens Utilize AutoCAD LT, Microsoft Office, and internal systems Provide training to colleagues in surveying roles when required Qualifications Essential Requirements: Experienced and confident using AutoCAD LT Experience in a similar role, ideally within construction or civil engineering Proficient in working with technical drawings Good general education including English and Maths Strong written and verbal communication skills Understanding and commitment to health and safety Highly organized with ability to work to tight deadlines Demonstrates consistently high-quality work Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office Desirable: HND in engineering/CAD drawing, scientific discipline, or equivalent Knowledge of construction process technical aspects and specific risks involved
