Technical Systems Officer
Role: Permanent contract
Location: Barnstaple, Devon
Salary: Competitive + bonus + significant benefits
Shifts available: Double Day shift
Working Hours:
- Double Day Shift:
- Week 1: Mon – Thu: 06:00 – 14:00, Fri: 06:00 – 12:00
- Week 2: Mon – Thu: 13:45 – 21:45, Fri: 11:45 – 17:45
The Role
We’re seeking a motivated and proactive Technical Systems Officer to provide the Manufacturing and Packing functions with a range of administration and technical support which enables these departments to function within the boundaries of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will work within strict quality, safety, and compliance standards, supporting continuous improvement and operational effectiveness to include but not limited to:
- Support health and safety compliance and improvement activities
- Conduct risk assessments (General, COSHH, Manual Handling, PUWER)
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities
- Manage Change Controls, Deviations, CAPAs, and associated investigations within the Quality Management System
- Enable adherence to quality, GMP, safety, and operational standards
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Facilitate structured problem-solving and root cause analysis
- Drive activities that improve operational performance and efficiency
- Maintain knowledge of manufacturing and packing processes, equipment, and systems
- Develop and maintain SOPs, Work Instructions, and process change documentation
- Manage ERP/MRP transactions, operational data, records, and reporting
- Review and approve batch documentation as required
- Maintain manual and electronic training records
- Support departmental administration as required
- Produce KPI metrics and management reports

The Person
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with colleagues at all levels
- Able to follow instructions accurately and work to established procedures
- Confident handling data, numbers, and technical information
- Good IT skills with the ability to learn new systems quickly
- Proactive, reliable, and professional approach to work
- Strong organisational, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience of Continuous Improvement (CI) practices and methodologies
- Experience of GMP or other regulated working environments
- Relevant administration qualification(s) and commitment to professional development
