The Role

This is a newly created role, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to shape the way we plan and deliver technical training, supporting Kia UK's growing PBV and fleet ambitions. They will work closely with the existing Technical Trainers and the Technical Training Manager to provide industry leading levels of Technical Training to our PBV Centres and fleet partners at our dedicated training centre in Derby.

This role will suit someone who is an experienced Technical Trainer that can provide safe and appropriate delivery of the latest high voltage training on Kia vehicles, ensuring they are qualified and competent to a higher level than technicians being trained.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the team to coordinate the creation and delivery of new course content and assets defining delivery method/technology (IBT, VCT, e-learning, video, animation etc.,) using instructional learning principles (and tools including Adobe InDesign, MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel) as agreed with the Technical Training Manager and Assistant Manager.
  • Keep up to date with current training practices and develop new initiatives for the provision of dealer technical training including online training options such as VCT, smart glasses, eLearning, videos, AR/VR.
  • Maintain a high degree of awareness of all current technical issues and bulletins published on GSW (Global Service Way).
  • Deliver internal technical/product knowledge training as required.
  • Deliver technical/product knowledge training to fleet operators at the Academy and fleet workshops.
  • Understand the complexity and dangers linked to live working on High Voltage vehicles and level 4 technical trainers’ level of responsibility. Additional H&S requirement responsibility for groups of up to 9 technicians working on live (800 / 400) volt systems
  • Participate in overseas KHQ (South Korea) and KEU (Kia Europe) training courses as required and share content with the team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the Technical Training team in order to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Liaise with Technical and Quality teams when appropriate to raise product concerns which require further investigation or factory liaison.
  • Engage in regional training events as required.
  • Ensure that training vehicles are maintained to a high standard and in a presentable condition.
  • Ensure that training tools, equipment and parts are maintained and updated as appropriate.
  • Ensure that the Kia Academy Training Centre is maintained in a clean and tidy condition, reflecting current Brand standards.

About You

Education:

  • Training qualifications (PTLLS/CTLLS, CTP) highly beneficial
  • City & Guilds Motor Vehicle Technicians Part 3 or equivalent
  • IMI level 3 and 4 High Voltage qualification highly beneficial
  • DGUV 209-093 – European High Voltage qualification (desirable)

Skills:

  • Ability to deliver High Voltage qualification training and Diagnosis training in accordance with H&S requirements
  • Excellent current technical knowledge of vehicles and diagnostic processes
  • Good planning and organisation skills
  • Highly numerate and PC literate. MS Office advanced (Outlook/PPT/Excel)
  • Knowledge of online training tools such as Adobe Connect, Zoom and Microsoft Teams
  • Knowledge of technology (e.g. smart glasses) video and editing tools
  • LMS experience including online assessment builder and learning journey design
  • Self-starter, motivated, driven and with a desire to learn
  • Ability to interpret and present complex data
  • Conscientious, with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Experience:

  • Ideally 5 years’ experience within automotive technical training delivery
  • Familiar with roles and responsibilities of Technicians in the dealer network

Location/Travel

The Kia UK Head Office is based in Walton-on-Thames, just a 5-minute walk from the station. We also have plenty of on-site parking for drivers, including EV charging ports.
