Technical Training Lead

Shape the Future of Rail Engineering Excellence

Are you passionate about developing people as much as you are about technology? Do you thrive on transforming complex engineering concepts into engaging learning experiences that make a real operational impact?

We're looking for a Technical Training Lead to join our Rail UK Training & Competence team and play a pivotal role in building the next generation of technical capability across our UK fleets. This is more than a training role. It's an opportunity to create a lasting legacy by developing industry-leading technical learning programmes that support the safe operation, maintenance and continual improvement of modern rolling stock.

About the Role

As Technical Training Lead, you will be at the forefront of technical learning and workforce development, designing and delivering innovative training solutions that ensure our operational teams have the skills, knowledge and confidence to perform at the highest level.

Working closely with the Training & Competence Manager, engineering specialists, project teams and customers, you will develop a centralised technical training framework that supports multiple fleets and operational projects across the UK.

From vehicle familiarisation and advanced system training to digital learning content and competency development, your work will have a direct impact on operational excellence, safety and performance.

What You'll Be Doing

Design World-Class Technical Training

  • Develop and implement a centralised technical training framework across UK operations.

  • Create engaging training programmes covering:

    • Traction systems
    • Braking systems
    • Control systems
    • Signalling interfaces
    • Maintenance and overhaul procedures
    • Vehicle familiarisation

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
