Technical Training Specialist

Location: Field Based

Salary: Up to £55,000 Basic + Annual Bonus

Pybus Recruitment is recruiting for an enthusiastic and driven Technical Training Specialist to support the development of technical expertise across a growing automotive dealer network.

This is a field-based role with regular travel between two UK training centres and occasional visits to retailer sites. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering engaging technical training, inspiring network staff, and helping to build a culture of continuous learning.

Locations

  • Nottingham
  • Bedford

The role is expected to involve approximately:

  • 80% travel between the Nottingham and Bedford training centres
  • 20% travel to dealer and retailer locations

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a structured technical training programme across the dealer network.
  • Design and deliver engaging classroom and webinar-based training courses covering technical systems, product information, diagnostics, and industry knowledge.
  • Collaborate with Regional Aftersales Managers and Technical Support teams to identify training requirements and develop tailored learning solutions.
  • Create an inspiring and engaging training environment that encourages delegates to continue their professional development.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development throughout the Aftersales network.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a Learning Management System (LMS) platform for the UK market.
  • Manage training budgets and ensure activities are delivered within agreed financial parameters.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and equipment to improve training effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Support additional Aftersales projects and departmental activities as required.

About the Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a trainer who is:

  • Enthusiastic, relatable, and highly motivated.

  • Able to inspire delegates and create a memorable training experience.
  • Driven to achieve high standards and continuously improve training delivery.
  • Comfortable engaging with technicians, managers, and stakeholders at all levels.

The hiring manager's vision is to create a training environment where every attendee leaves feeling engaged, motivated, and committed to returning for further development opportunities.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience within the automotive industry.
  • Significant hands-on Master Technician experience.
  • Strong technical diagnostic capability.
  • Level 4 Electric Vehicle (EV) knowledge and experience is essential.
  • Experience creating and implementing training plans and development programmes.
  • Knowledge of web-based learning platforms and modern training methodologies.
  • Formal training or engineering qualifications, Master Technician status, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • IMI-recognised training in hybrid and electric vehicle systems is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to service excellence.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and stay away from home when required.

Training Experience

Previous formal training experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Candidates with the right technical background, personality, attitude, and work ethic will be considered, with support available to develop their training and presentation skills.
