Technical Writer / Developer Documentation Specialist – Bristol

Location: Bristol (Hybrid)
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 + Benefits

About Our Client

Our client is a growing software company building API-led products for technical and enterprise customers. They are investing in developer experience and are looking for a Technical Writer to improve documentation across their platform.

The Role

Working closely with Software Engineers, Product Managers and Developer Relations, you will create clear technical content that helps developers understand, integrate and successfully use the company's products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain API documentation, developer guides and tutorials.
  • Translate complex engineering concepts into clear technical content.
  • Work directly with engineers to understand new features and releases.
  • Develop code examples, quick-start guides and implementation walkthroughs.
  • Maintain documentation structure, standards and style guidance.
  • Test documentation and examples from a developer's perspective.
  • Gather customer feedback and identify documentation gaps.
  • Support release notes and product communication for technical audiences.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in Technical Writing, Developer Documentation or a similar role.
  • Ability to understand APIs, SDKs and software development concepts.
  • Strong written communication and information-architecture skills.
  • Experience with Markdown, Git and documentation-as-code workflows.
  • Ability to read or write basic code in JavaScript, Python or another language.
  • Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger or developer portals is advantageous.
  • Comfortable collaborating directly with software engineers.
