About The Role
We are seeking an experienced SC Cleared Technical Writer to join our team to support the documentation of existing live services delivered on behalf of a high-profile client. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that all technical documentation aligns with security standards and meets the requirements of the Secure by Design assurance activities. This position requires a detail-oriented professional capable of working closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to capture complex service designs, technical configurations, and operational processes. The primary objective is to produce comprehensive, clear, and compliant documentation that will be reviewed by the Technical Design Office (TDO) and other stakeholders. The role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, contributing to critical projects that uphold security and operational excellence.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess demonstrable experience in authoring technical documentation within the UK Government or similar environments. Proven expertise in developing High Level Design (HLD), Low Level Design (LLD), and operational process guides is essential. A strong understanding of service architecture, technical design principles, and security frameworks is required. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to quickly assimilate technical information from SMEs and translate it into clear, structured documentation. Excellent written communication skills, stakeholder engagement capabilities, and experience working within governance and assurance frameworks are vital. Knowledge of Secure by Design principles and Defence assurance processes will be highly advantageous. Additionally, experience supporting service transition or onboarding activities will be considered a plus.
Responsibilities
- Producing compliant High Level Design (HLD) documents for existing services, ensuring they accurately reflect current service architectures.
- Developing supporting Low Level Design (LLD) documentation, capturing detailed technical configurations and operational procedures.
- Creating comprehensive Business Process Guides and operational documentation to facilitate service delivery and support.
- Conducting interviews and workshops with SMEs and clients to gather necessary information to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
- Applying Secure by Design principles within the documentation where appropriate, aligning with security standards and best practices.
- Supporting review, assurance, and governance activities by addressing comments and incorporating feedback from the Technical Design Office and other stakeholders.
