Insight Global Seeks Technical Writer for Leading Enterprise Software Organisation

Insight Global are seeking a Technical Writer for a leading enterprise software organisation. This role will focus on creating and maintaining high-quality customer-facing documentation for software products, working closely with software engineers, QA teams, and product stakeholders to ensure documentation accurately reflects product functionality and user requirements.

This position requires 4 days onsite in Cambridge, UK for a 12-month contract and is Inside IR35.

Role Overview

As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for producing clear, concise, and user-focused documentation for enterprise software solutions. You will partner directly with engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle, learning new product functionality as it is developed and tested, creating release notes, user guides, implementation documentation, and knowledge base content. You will also work within a Docs-as-Code environment, contributing to documentation repositories and ensuring documentation remains accurate, accessible, and up to date.

Must-Have Requirements

  • Strong experience creating customer-facing documentation for enterprise software products
  • Experience developing user guides, implementation documentation, release notes, and knowledge base articles
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly content
  • Experience working closely with software engineers, QA teams, and product stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Jira for workflow and documentation management
  • Understanding of Git and version control processes
  • Experience working with Confluence or similar documentation platforms
  • Familiarity with Docs-as-Code methodologies
  • Working knowledge of Markdown Language
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple documentation priorities simultaneously
  • Experience in software engineering or technology-focused environments
  • Hands-on approach to product learning, testing, and documentation creation

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Work alongside software engineers to understand new features and product updates
  • Participate in testing and QA activities to gain hands-on product knowledge
  • Create and maintain customer-facing product documentation
  • Produce release notes for software updates and product enhancements
  • Capture screenshots and supporting visuals for documentation assets
  • Maintain content within Git repositories using Docs-as-Code practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure documentation accuracy and consistency
  • Update existing content in line with product changes and customer requirements
  • Support documentation for customer implementations and platform deployments
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of documentation standards, processes, and tooling
