Re-architecting Engineering for the Age of Intelligence
PhysicsX is the physics AI company for industrials. The company’s mission is to accelerate hardware innovation by overhauling what industrial engineering and manufacturing look like today. PhysicsX is building a new simulation software stack to deliver deep physics AI enablement across the entire engineering lifecycle. The company partners with leading organisations in aerospace & defence, automotive, semiconductors, materials, and energy & renewables, supporting them on some of their most critical and complex challenges. PhysicsX is headquartered in the United Kingdom, with offices in London, New York, and Singapore and an expanding presence in the Bay Area.
The Mission
We are looking for a Technical Writer to own our task-based, in-platform documentation and how-to guides. This person will be responsible for the complete guide lifecycle: identifying and scoping documentation needs, then research, drafting, validation, publication, release updates, testing, and maintenance. These guides will form the authoritative technical foundation for our curriculum and training programmes. The Technical Writer will work closely with the curriculum lead, who will continue to own learning architecture, exercises, assessments, trainer materials, and broader adoption initiatives.
Many customers do not have in-house specialist knowledge in all areas of our platform capabilities, so the documentation must enable technically literate users to complete appropriate machine learning and simulation workflows independently. Guides should evolve with every platform release, and should be scoped starting at the engineering level and carried through to clear, customer-facing guides. Early priorities include plugging existing gaps, building foundational machine learning explainer content for technical and non-technical readers, and supporting new feature rollouts.
This role owns procedural, task-based documentation. Curriculum, training, and business development consumes and builds on that documentation rather than recreating or independently maintaining the same content.
Core Responsibilities
- Scope how-to guides in detail per topic, as directed by Product User Enablement GTM leadership, leveraging existing Product and Delivery materials to build repeatable, distributable guides, and build in new product features as they ship
- Create and publish new how-to guides, coordinating with subject matter experts and using pre-built skills and writing rules to move quickly
- Maintain all existing guides on a regular schedule
- Partner with the curriculum lead to ensure published guides provide a reliable technical foundation for training, while curriculum design, learning pathways, exercises, and trainer materials remain owned by the curriculum lead
- Gain approval from GTM leadership and relevant subject matter experts on every user guide before it is published

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Success Measures
- Every priority workflow is supported by an accurate, tested how-to guide
- Guides are maintained alongside each platform release
- Published guides can be referenced by training curriculum without recreating procedural content
- Documentation gaps and stale content are tracked through a visible backlog
- Product users can complete common workflows independently
Ownership and Collaboration
This role owns procedural, task-based documentation as the single source of truth for product guidance. Curriculum, training, and enablement content build on these guides rather than recreating them.
- Curriculum lead: Owns learning architecture, exercises, assessments, and trainer materials, and partners with this role to keep training content grounded in the published guides.
- Subject matter experts: Help develop and review new and updated guides, particularly within Delivery. Every guide requires their sign off alongside GTM leadership before publication.
- Product and Engineering: Provide the core engineering and product concepts needed to create clear, customer-facing guidance and incorporate new features as they ship.
- GTM leadership: Prioritises which user guide topics are needed.
Essential Experience
- Demonstrable experience in technical writing, developer relations, or documentation engineering
- Curriculum, training, or technical documentation experience
- Strong proficiency with Markdown, and ideally MkDocs or a similar tool
- Experience working in MD or AsciiDoc files
- Experience with version control via GitHub
- Comfortable with docs as code workflows and CI/CD integration
- Familiarity with the Diataxis documentation framework (tutorials, how-to guides, reference, explanation)
- Comfortable using company docs guidelines and agentic writing skills
- Ability to write clear, concise prose that respects readers' time

How You Work
- You can assess documentation from the target reader’s perspective and ensure technically literate non-specialists can understand and complete the documented workflows independently.
- You can verify technical accuracy independently, without relying on engineers to write the content for you.
- You are a systems thinker who builds coherent information architectures rather than documenting features in isolation.
- You are comfortable coordinating across a wide set of subject matter experts, particularly within user-enabling Delivery.
Desirable Experience
- MkDocs, or a similar tool such as Mintlify or Zensical, plus Markdown and Sphinx
- A physical industry background is preferred, for example simulation, machine learning, design, or manufacturing.
- Demonstrated experience documenting APIs, SDKs, or developer tooling is a plus given the platform's technical depth.
- Background in simulation or engineering workflows.
- Familiarity with scientific computing libraries such as NumPy and SciPy.
- Understanding of how AI agents consume documentation, for example structured descriptions and tool schemas.
- Prior freelance experience in this space, including candidates who could convert to a permanent role and start with no notice period.
