ROLE SUMMARY

We are looking for a specialized Technical Writer to enhance our digital ecosystem documentation in a part-time freelance capacity. The ideal candidate will connect complex asset pipelines with user experience, translating intricate processes—such as 3D rendering pipelines, metadata schemas, API integrations, and secure portal access—into clear, actionable documentation for developers, creative teams, and external stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Produce functional specifications from discovery and implementation artifacts.
  • Create and maintain developer documentation, including REST APIs and integration guides.
  • Write user-focused documentation, tutorials, FAQs, and knowledge base content.
  • Document complex workflows related to 3D digital asset ingestion, version control, metadata tagging, taxonomy, and rendering pipelines (e.g., USD, glTF, OBJ formats).
  • Create clear administrative and end-user documentation detailing portal configuration, single sign-on (SSO), role-based access control (RBAC), and asset sharing protocols.
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, designers, QA engineers, 3D technical artists, and business stakeholders to gather and validate information.
  • Maintain documentation using Markdown (e.g., within Obsidian) following documentation-as-code practices.
  • Create diagrams, workflow maps, wireframe annotations, and process documentation.
  • Establish documentation standards, templates, and review processes as needed.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS

  • Required:
    • 3+ years of technical writing experience in Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems, complex web applications, or SaaS platforms.
    • Strong understanding of 3D digital asset lifecycles, file formats (glTF, USD, FBX, OBJ), metadata management, and creative workflows (e.g., Maya, Blender, Unreal Engine, CAD).
    • Experience documenting digital portals, user onboarding, permission tiers (RBAC), and SSO.
    • Proficiency with modern Docs-as-Code workflows (Markdown, Git/GitHub) or headless CMS platforms (ReadMe, GitBook, Confluence).
    • Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, authentication, and web technologies.
    • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to tailor content for both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Ability to independently interview stakeholders and synthesize information from multiple sources.
    • Bachelor's degree in English, Computer Science, Visual Effects & 3D Animation, Information Architecture, or equivalent practical experience.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
