Job Title: Technical Brewer (Project Management)

Location: Northampton

Carlsberg Britvic is the largest multi-beverage supplier in the UK and is home to some of the most iconic and popular beers & soft drinks, including Carlsberg Danish Pilsner, 1664, Poretti and Brooklyn to ale favourites such as Hobgoblin and Wainwright. For soft drinks, Carlsberg Britvic’s brands include J2O, Robinsons, Tango and London Essence along with the licence rights to the Pepsi portfolio in the UK including Pepsi MAX, 7UP, Lipton Ice Tea and Rockstar Energy.

With a strong national footprint, the Carlsberg Britvic business includes 5 production facilities and 16 logistics depot’s servicing customers up and down the UK. As these two historical businesses have come together, the one common goal remains, and that is ensuring our people succeed.

About the role:

We’re looking for a brewing expert who can keep our operations running at peak performance. In this role, you’ll oversee the technical side of brewing from grain to glass, ensuring we meet critical site and Group targets. You’ll develop and support our Production Teams, embed continuous improvement, and lead both existing and new product initiatives that strengthen our competitive edge and maintain our world-class standards.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Own departmental loss targets and material budgets, driving cost-reduction initiatives and ensuring CapEx/OpEx projects are delivered to standard and on time.
  • Build technical capability across Production Teams through hands-on coaching and the creation of robust Standard Operating Procedures to drive daily performance excellence.
  • Champion a lean, continuous-improvement culture by coaching teams in effective root-cause analysis and leading CI initiatives that deliver measurable results.
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships through clear communication and collaboration, ensuring consistent performance standards across the site.
  • Act as a visible role model for Health, Safety and Environmental excellence, driving site-wide engagement and compliance.
  • Own and deliver departmental Quality KPIs, working closely with Quality and Operations to ensure physicochemical, microbiological and legislative standards are consistently met.
  • Standardise and optimise plant processes and hygiene practices, ensuring full compliance and operational consistency.
  • Partner with Carlsberg Group colleagues to share best practice, support benchmarking, and embed standards aligned with the Carlsberg Operational Manual.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and suppliers to manage material quality, supply performance and improvement initiatives.
  • Work with Production, Planning and Quality teams to meet daily operational targets, minimise downtime and troubleshoot issues through effective problem-solving and sustainable root-cause solutions.
  • Lead the introduction of new technologies, processes, products and materials, and support equipment optimisation alongside the Technical Engineer.
  • Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, communicating confidently at all levels and challenging the status quo to drive continuous improvement.

Experience and Key Attributes required:

  • Strong IT capability, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and preferably hands-on experience with automation or process-control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply continuous-improvement and problem-solving tools (e.g., PDCA, 5 Why, Ishikawa) in a structured and consistent way.
  • Proven skill in influencing operational teams and driving meaningful, lasting change across production environments.
  • Ability to coach, develop and upskill others to embed sustainable improvements and optimise processes.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to anticipate issues, prevent process losses and manage competing priorities.
  • Solid project-management capability, able to lead and deliver technical, process or improvement projects on time and to standard.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean management systems and troubleshooting methodologies, with the confidence to challenge the status quo constructively.
  • Educational requirement: IBD Diploma in Brewing (mandatory); Master Brewer qualification or active progression toward it preferred.
  • Current UK Working Rights, or able to obtain.
