An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the technical team within the School of Applied Science at the University of Huddersfield. We are a successful and innovative department offering excellent teaching and research facilities and are currently seeking to appoint a full-time, term-time-only Grade 5 Technician.
About the Role
Joining a team that primarily supports biology and pharmaceutical science disciplines, your role will also provide support for the wider technical team, assisting in other scientific disciplines such as chemistry & forensics.

- Preparation of laboratories and materials prior to student practical classes
- Supporting specific technical matters related to research activities
Your role will include:
- Routine maintenance of laboratory equipment as outlined in the manufacturer's manuals
- Development of new student practical experiments
- Support for the introduction of new equipment and instrumentation for use by students and research staff
Working to deadlines is an important aspect of technical support, as is an acute awareness of H&S in terms of COSHH and risk assessments.
Qualifications
You will be educated to degree or diploma level in a science-related subject and/or possess equivalent experience working in a technical role.
