Bell & Colvill – Lotus Surrey & McLaren Guildford Approved Service is the world’s longest-serving Lotus main dealer, with a heritage dating back to 1970. Originally based in West Horsley, the business has grown its expertise across prestigious marques such as Lotus, Alfa Romeo, Jensen, Maserati, Honda, Subaru, and Morgan. All departments are now located in Guildford, where the team delivers personalized, high-quality service to a passionate and discerning client base. In partnership with McLaren Automotive since 2019, Bell & Colvill operates the UK’s first Aftersales-only McLaren retailer. The state-of-the-art Guildford facility houses dedicated Sales, Service, and Parts for Lotus, and Service and Parts for McLaren, supported by experienced professionals committed to exceeding customer expectations.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Technician role based in Guildford. The Technician will carry out diagnostics, servicing, repairs, and maintenance on Lotus vehicles, following manufacturer standards and workshop procedures. Daily tasks include performing inspections, identifying faults, completing mechanical and electrical/ HV work, and ensuring accurate documentation of all jobs. The role involves working closely with service advisors and parts teams to coordinate jobs, order required components, and meet agreed timelines. The Technician will also uphold health and safety standards, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and contribute to delivering an exceptional customer experience through high-quality technical work.

Qualifications

- Strong vehicle diagnostics and fault-finding skills, including experience with modern diagnostic tools and manufacturer systems.
- Proficiency in mechanical and electrical repair, routine servicing, and maintenance of performance or premium vehicles.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, service manuals, and repair instructions accurately.
- Solid organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple jobs and meet workshop deadlines.
- Clear and professional communication skills to collaborate with colleagues and, when required, explain technical issues in accessible terms.
- Relevant automotive technician qualification (e.g., NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent) and experience in a franchised dealership or specialist workshop.
- Strong attention to detail, commitment to quality standards, and a safety-focused approach to all workshop activities.
- Genuine interest in performance and sports cars, especially Lotus and McLaren, with a willingness to undertake brand-specific training and continuous professional development.
