Job Description
The Technician works closely with the Head Technician and full-time technician and various stakeholders towards the day-to-day safe handling, installation/de-installation, and packing of Phillips property in line with the sales, exhibitions, and events schedule. The role will be required to work from our London gallery in Berkeley Square with travel to our London Warehouse.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensuring all works are prepared and ready for display and organize the safe pack-up, storage, and transfer of works to the warehouse after the sale
- Providing technical assistance for the relevant department as necessary during each sale/exhibition
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Ensure the efficient use of all packing materials and supplies
- Performing any other ad hoc duties as required

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Broad knowledge and experience of fine art handling/packing/transport/logistics
- Experience of fine art logistics/transportation/warehousing practices
- Experience working in a gallery/auction house environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate in a professional manner with a wide variety of
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail
- Flexibility to work at weekends and evenings as and when required

EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Proven experience of handling art in a safe and professional manner is essential
- IPAF license is desirable
- PASMA certificate is desirable
- First aid certificate is desirable
- Willingness to undertake relevant training courses is essential
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is primarily undertaken in our auction house/gallery in Mayfair
- Work will also occasionally be undertaken at our warehouse in Mitcham
- The role will frequently be required to move and lift works of a heavy weight
