HGV Mechanic – Transport Department (Glasgow Depot)
Location Glasgow Depot (G32 8EY)
Contract Full Time / Permanent
Shift Patterns Two-week rotating rota covering day and back shifts. ~47.5 hours per week, worked over 4 or 5 days.
About the Role
We are recruiting for an HGV Mechanic to join our Transport Department at our Glasgow Depot, within Müller Milk & Ingredients Distribution.
This is an exciting opportunity to work for a prestigious logistics company, servicing and repairing a modern, well-maintained fleet of vehicles. The role involves repairing and maintaining our HGV fleet to legal and company standards, with a focus on safe, efficient, and proactive fleet management.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Inspecting and maintaining our HGV fleet
- Preparing vehicles for MOT testing and arranging transport to test centres
- Recording vehicle defects and maintaining accurate logbooks for each vehicle
- Repairing minor accident damage
- Conducting fault diagnosis to identify and resolve vehicle issues
- Prioritising safety across all aspects of the role

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- City & Guilds part 2 & 3 / BTEC / IMI in motor vehicle management or equivalent practical experience in the commercial vehicle industry
- Essential: Proven commercial experience on HGVs
- Preferred (but not essential): Class C+E licence
- Ability to work both independently and in a team
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads
Compensation & Benefits

Compensation
- Competitive starting pay: £20.84 – £26.69 per hour (OTE: £51,000 per annum)
- Shift premiums:
- Saturday: £22.45 per hour
- Sunday / Bank Holidays / Overtime: £29.69 per hour
- Unsociable hours (1800–0400): £22.78 per hour
